relay for life 2007

The Relay For Life is an event sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Everyone gathers at a local high school track for a full 24 hours of events. There are several teams involved and 2007 was the first year that St. Andrew & St. Charles participated. Each team has a booth area where they can sell toys and/or services to the other people at the event. All the proceeds benefit the ACS research funds. There were several special events at the relay: funny races, themed laps (crazy hat lap, pajama lap, etc.) We decided on a Mardi Gras theme and sold beads and rubber ducks. It sounds funny, but the ducks were the hit of the relay. The youth portion of the team consisted of: David and Kathleen, Kelly, Eric and Zach, Svetlana, Kenya and Kristina, Sarah, Jeff and Megan, Hilary, Rebecca, and Lauren . These kids were amazing! They participated in every single event earning tons of spirit points. They inspired other teams to get more involved. No matter what was asked of them, they did it with such a contagious enthusiasm. Even for the pajama lap at 3:00 am - they were all in their jammies walking around the track. At the end of the 24 hours, during the award ceremony the St. Andrew & St. Charles Youth team received a trophy: TOP YOUTH FUNDRAISING TEAM.

Eric and Zach Skidmore were huge sports and particpated in the Miss Relay Pageant.
