AIDS Lunch Program
The AIDS Lunch Program of St. Andrew & St. Charles has been
among the longest continuing programs in the Los Angeles Area.
We are currently in our fourteenth year of providing lunches
to AIDS outpatients at the Los Angeles County USC AIDS Clinic.
Our program consists of three groups:
Shopping for food and service items
.
Preparing sandwiches on the Monday before the first Tuesday
of each month
.
Driving to the clinic and serving the prepared lunches
on the first Tuesday each month.
Typically two varying members of this terrific team deliver
the sandwiches together, and most don’t drive more often than
every three months or so. This is an incredibly rewarding program,
from working with some of the nicest folks from the parish during
the prep stages to meeting some truly grateful friends at the
clinic. Food Pantry
Our food pantry is another long-running program at St. Andrew
& St. Charles. For approximately 15 years, donations of
food items have been received at the church and distributed
through our food pantry to families and individuals who are
in need. Bags of items are distributed weekly, on Thursday mornings
between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Food items are donated by Parish members then our group of volunteers shops for
additional needed items, organizes the bags and delivers the bags to the folks
who visit our kitchen.
