Calling all volunteers.  The last 90-days of 2018 are planned to be action-packed for our church and our community. A few years ago, we partnered with the Rosa Parks Learning Center and have donated funds to purchase lice kits and other supplies for the staff to support the students and their  families.

We also supplied backpacks to the entire school and have volunteers working with students to improve reading skills.  There are so many opportunities - we hope to inspire you to find one that works for you!

READ-2-ME (ongoing)

Are you interested in helping school kids?  Want to have fun while reading with children?

Studies show how important it is to read to our children and how their development is so much more positively influenced when they can read and comprehend from an early age.  At Rosa Parks Learning Center, volunteers can come into a classroom and listen to children read, among other academic activities.  It's so easy!! There is a sign-up process via LAUSD, then just show up!  The teachers will have the activity and the students ready for you, right there in the classroom!

The students would love to read to YOU, and YOU just might find more meaning in your life when you help them practice reading!

There are currently (2) readers from our congregation, and we would like to see that number grow!  Please contact Monica Ward at 818-421-8871 to volunteer.

ROSA PARKS GIVING TREE - November 11-December 9, 2018

In addition to the funds provided for school nurse supplies, there are occasions when the younger children have need to change clothes during the school day so they can complete their day with dignity.  To that end, we are again asking for donations via our Angel Giving Trees.

The trees will be set up in both narthexes, with each leaf marked with what is needed - you simply take a leaf, purchase the items(s) indicated and return them the following week into the bin provided.  There are multiple opportunities to give (items have been identified by the school), and once the trees are  bare and the bins are full, we will deliver the items to the school.

If you have any questions, please contact Monica W or Marsha V..
